Fire Alarm Test and inspection

Sentinel Technology performs a complete test and inspect to find any deficiencies in the system and insure that the life of the system is being maximized. All devices are tested to show that they function properly, these include:

  • Initiating devices (smoke detectors, pull stations, duct detectors, sprinkler flow switch, ect.)
  • Indicating devices (horns, bells, strobes, ect.)
  • Panels (control panel, signal panels)
  • Batteries
  • Shut down and control functions (elevator recall, HVAC shut down, ect.)
  • Reporting

Initiating Devices

Initiating devices are what set the system off in case off a fire. Its important that you know that your smoke detector will activate when its supposed to or that your pull station is able to be pulled and isn't stuck or jammed. When testing these devices we insure that they have all the same functions that they had when they were manufactured.

Indicating Devices

Indicating devices are what tell people that there is a fire in the building and that they need to get out. If they do not function correctly or if they are covered up then they wont be able to alert people in the way they were intended to. The only way to fully test these devices is to set them off and insure that they all work, this can be disruptive for your business but it is crucial to know that they work before there is a fire. When testing these devices we never let them go off any longer then necessary.

Panels

The Fire Alarm Control Panel is the brain of the whole system we test it to insure that it functions in the way it was intended to and that it will report trouble conditions and tell you if it is having a problem so it can be repaired. Like the control panel we also test any remote power supplies or signal panels that you may have.

Batteries

All fire panels have back up batteries so that you don't lose your fire system in case of a loss of power to the building. These batteries need to be checked to insure they are holding a charge in the way they should and that they are not out of date per the manufactures instructions.

Shut Down and Control Functions

Many fire systems are tied to different emergency systems in the building such as elevator recall or HVAC shutdown or emergency fire doors. All these systems are very important to life safety. We test to make sure the fire panel sends the right signal so that these systems operate correctly.

Reporting

Reporting is how the fire panel call out to get the fire trucks rolling as soon as possible. We check to make sure that the correct signals are getting though.
